SPI are divided into three forms of pests, Moths, Beetles and Mites.

 

• These pests are associated with flour pulses and figs.

• Complete metamorphosis egg - larvae - Pupae – adult.

• Indian meal Moth; Warehouse Moth; Tropical warehouse Moth; Biscuit beetle; Confused Flour Beetle; Grain weevil; Rice weevil;

• Control measures; Thorough hygiene eradicates 90% of insect life as they are food dependant, however treatment is carried out by ULV (Ultra Low Volume) commercially.

• Domestically spraying and the use of associated insect monitors.
